Sean "Diddy" Combs is now expected to leave federal prison on Jan. 24, 2028, marking the latest change to his projected release date despite reports that he was recently disciplined following a fight with another inmate. The updated date appears on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website and moves his projected release up about a month from the previous estimate of Feb. 23, 2028.

Combs is serving a 50-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix after a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, sparing the music executive from convictions on the most serious counts, according to People.

Reports of a prison altercation surfaced last week after Combs allegedly fought with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix. TMZ reported that correctional staff separated the two men before moving the Bad Boy Records founder into solitary confinement.

As Combs continued serving his sentence, federal prison records showed his projected release date moving from mid-2028 to April, then February and now Jan. 24, 2028. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained what prompted those revisions.

Combs has remained in federal custody since his September 2024 arrest after multiple judges denied his requests for pretrial release. The time he spent behind bars before sentencing counted toward his prison term, reducing the amount of time left to serve once the 50-month sentence was imposed.

Prosecutors argued that Combs deserved a prison sentence of more than a decade, while defense attorneys urged the court to impose about 14 months. Judge Arun Subramanian instead sentenced the music executive to 50 months, a decision that both sides have continued challenging through post-trial filings and the appeals process.

It remains unclear whether the reported prison fight or any other disciplinary matter influenced those administrative changes. Combs' legal team continues appealing his convictions while he serves his sentence at the New Jersey federal prison.
