Kanye West's upcoming Tampa concerts have sparked significant outcry from several local advocates who want the performances reconsidered before opening night. Two shows remain scheduled for June 26 and June 28 at Raymond James Stadium despite growing pressure from elected officials and advocacy voices.
Among those speaking out are the Florida Holocaust Museum, the Tampa Jewish Federation and the Florida chapter of the National Organization for Women. Each organization has condemned the decision to host West because of his past antisemitic language and public actions.
West's planned return to Tampa comes nearly a decade after his last appearance in the city. According to Axios Tampa Bay, objections intensified after local groups released statements criticizing the stadium's decision while Senator Rick Scott publicly called for additional review of the stadium dates.
Scott added his voice through a letter sent to the Tampa Sports Authority, which operates Raymond James Stadium. He argued that a taxpayer supported facility should carefully examine whether hosting West aligns with community values.
Jewish voices say their alarm centers on comments West has made over several years. Museum representatives and federation officials have argued that providing a stage for the artist sends the wrong message at a time when antisemitism remains a growing source of alarm.
Florida NOW joined those efforts and supported calls for reconsideration. Representatives from the organization said giving West another major platform risks normalizing language they believe should not be overlooked.
Despite mounting pressure, no cancellation has been announced. Tampa Sports Authority representatives have said the agency follows free speech principles while not endorsing offensive comments made by performers appearing at its facility.
West has continued drawing large crowds even while facing backlash in multiple countries. Recent stadium appearances and strong ticket demand suggest his audience remains substantial despite continuing objections from advocacy leaders.
Calls for cancellation have not changed the concert schedule. West remains scheduled to take the stage on June 26 and June 28.
