ROCKVILLE, Md. — Stefon Diggs has been ordered to give a federal judge a much fuller explanation of how he knew the man who accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting him, after a court rejected the NFL receiver's description of their connection as merely an "acquaintance."
Christopher Blake Griffith, a social media personality, claims Diggs assaulted him at the football player's Rockville home in May 2023. As reported by TMZ Sports, the social media personality asked Diggs to explain how the two knew each other before the alleged encounter, but the answer provided during discovery was limited to a brief description that the judge found inadequate.
Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Sullivan ruled that Diggs must provide a more complete account of the relationship and answer additional questions about what occurred before the alleged incident. Court records show the dispute surfaced during discovery battles tied to Diggs' defamation lawsuit against his accuser.
Who was inside the home that night and what happened before May 2023 are now central points of the discovery fight. The judge directed Diggs to identify people who were at the home and provide fuller responses about his interactions with the man making the allegations.
Diggs now has 14 days from the June 3 order to provide the information. Failure to do so could expose him to court sanctions.
Griffith has alleged that Diggs drugged and sexually assaulted him. Diggs has denied the allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit, arguing the claims damaged his reputation and career. The legal fight has expanded into a broader dispute over evidence, testimony and financial damages.
Compliance with discovery requests now stands at the center of the latest ruling. Judges often require parties to provide complete answers before a case can move deeper into litigation.
Diggs also secured a partial win in the June 3 ruling. Sullivan determined he would not be required to answer certain questions involving alleged possession or distribution of controlled substances.
Left unanswered: what connection existed between Stefon Diggs and Christopher Blake Griffith before May 2023?
